She has the special talent of discover beauty

even where another eye would not see anything special.

And I like the way she is able to mix different styles

and create a special harmony

with few simple things

Lei ha un talento speciale nello scoprire la bellezza

anche dove altri occhi non avrebbero visto niente di particolare.

E mi piace il modo in cui è così abile nel mecolare stili differenti

e creare un'armonia speciale

Dear readers of Shabby Soul,

I was very flattered when my dear blog friend Silvia asked if I would like
to guest blog here, and I feel honoured to do so today.
My name is Helena and in my blog “The Swenglish Home”. I write about my
interior ideas, craft projects and a little about the life of a Swede living in the UK.

Cari lettori di Shabby soul,

sono stata molto lusingata quando la mia cara amica Silvia mi ha chiesto se mi sarebbe piaciuto

essere sua ospite, e ne sono molto onorata.

Sono Helena, il mio blog è “The Swenglish Home”.

Scrivo le mie idee di decorazione, progetti e un po' sulla vita di una svedese che abita in Inghilterra.

I live with my English partner and our two young boys in a
Victorian house in a picturesque part of England near Bath.
 

Vivo con il mio compagno inglese e i nostri due  figli

in una casa Vittoriana in una parte pittoresca dell'Inghilterra vicino Bath.

 

I work part-time as a consultant and university lecturer in Cross-Cultural Communication, 

and also make decorative items for the home, which I sell locally. 

Lavoro part time come consulente e docente universitaria in Comunicazione Interculturale

Creo anche oggetti decorativi per la casa, che vendo in zona.

Travelling has always been a big part of my life, 

and this is reflected in our home, where several different interior styles are mixed together.

Viaggiare è sempre stata una parte importantissima della mia vita

e questo si riflette nella nostra casa, dove sono mescolati  tanti differenti stili.

Turkish lanterns sit next to French vintage finds and Swedish linen fabric, and - of  course, with my Scandinavian background - wood is a material that can be found throughout the house!

Lanterne turche siedono accanto a oggetti vintage francesi e biancherie svedesi,

e naturalmente - data la mia origine svedese - il legno è il materiale che si trova in tutta la mia casa!

 

Having started as an interior decorating blog, I find myself being more and more drawn 

out into the garden too, creating little “rooms” and relaxing corners in our outside space.

Ho iniziato come blog di decorazione di interni, ma sono sempre più portata 

ad uscire anche nel giardino, creando piccole stanze e angoli rilassanti nel nostro spazio esterno

If, like me, you are fascinated by contrasts in your decorating 

and creating, England really is a wonderful environment to live in. 

Se, come me, anche voi siete affascinati dai contrasti nel vostro modo di decorare e creare

allora l'Inghilterra è veramente un luogo magnifico in cui vivere.

I often introduce “rougher” materials when I  decorate, with a particular love of anything rusty. 

Mixing textures of wood, linen fabrics, old metal objects with softer textiles, fresh flowers and lots of evergreens,  gives a room a relaxed feel. 

I desire to keep a playful and curious mind when decorating.

 Introduco sempre materiali grezzi quando decoro, amo particolarmente tuto ciò che è arrugginito.

Mescolare legno, tessuti di lino, vecchi oggetti di metallo, con tessuti soffici, fiori freschi

e tanti sempreverdi, dona alla stanza un'atmosfera rilassata.

Mi piace avere una mente giocosa e curiosa quando decoro.
